What is an Alpaca?
Alpacas are a grazing animal imported from South America. They have a kind and gentle character that makes them easy to handle. They are clean, safe, quiet, intelligent and disease-resistant. They have the most beautiful eyes you'll ever lose yourself in.

What is Alpaca Fleece Like?
The Alpaca's fleece is soft and smooth to touch producing one of the finest natural fibers in the world. It is warmer, lighter and stronger than wool and soft as cashmere, making it a strong, thermal and soft material. Alpacas come in 22 naturally occurring colors; beautiful shades of white, tan, fawn, brown, black and gray. The lighter colors can be dyed any color your heart desires.

More about the Alpaca:
An Alpaca's lifespan is about 20 years. they weigh around 150 pounds, full-grown, and stand approximately four feet high at the shoulder.  Gestation is 11.5 months. The babies, called crias (cree-a), weigh about 12-17 pounds at birth. Alpacas eat grass-type hay, and deposit in only a few places, making care inexpensive and clean-up easy.
